TourBox reviews on Reddit, read thread by thread
Across 19 Reddit threads about TourBox from March 2024 to August 2026, mostly in r/davinciresolve and r/editors, owners like it for keeping one hand on its controls in many apps, not just Resolve. The pushback is consistent: the Blackmagic Speed Editor, named in 10 of those threads, has the better jog wheel in Resolve, and some keyboard-first editors stopped using their TourBox.
- 19 threads: r/davinciresolve (11), r/editors (4), r/VideoEditing (3) and r/premiere (1), March 2024 to August 2026
- 172 comments read in 14 threads, moderator bots left out
- Blackmagic Speed Editor: named in 10 of the 19 threads, 56 mentions
- No thread mentions mouzeclick. We make it, and say so where it appears
How did we read Reddit's TourBox threads?
We searched post titles for "tourbox" and "tour box" in r/editors, r/VideoEditing, r/premiere, r/davinciresolve and r/photoshop, from January 2024 to 31 October 2026, in the Arctic Shift archive of public Reddit posts. Of 26 matches, 19 are on topic: 11 in r/davinciresolve, 4 in r/editors, 3 in r/VideoEditing and 1 in r/premiere. We dropped a for-sale listing, removed posts and repeats.
We read the comments in 14 of the 19 threads: 172 once moderator bots are taken out. A script counted every post or comment that names a product, once per comment, and added up those comments' scores. Every title names TourBox, so its row is 19 of 19 by design. One enthusiastic owner wrote 14 of the 49 replies in the biggest thread, which the poster there noticed partway through. A TourBox support account and an Adobe staff member also replied; they're counted, but not quoted as user opinion.
We aren't affiliated with Reddit or TourBox. We make mouzeclick, a mouse app for editors; no thread mentions it, so our view sits in its own labelled section. Opinions are paraphrased and linked to their comments.
Which editing controllers come up most in Reddit's TourBox threads?
The TourBox family first, then the Blackmagic Speed Editor, well ahead of everything else. The Speed Editor is named in 10 of the 19 threads, with 56 mentions, because most of these threads are Resolve users asking which of the two to buy. The top 12, by threads and then mentions:
| Device or tool | Threads (of 19) | Mentions | Comment score |
|---|---|---|---|
| TourBox (any model) | 19 | 73 | 105 |
| TourBox Elite or Elite Plus | 13 | 19 | 34 |
| Blackmagic Speed Editor | 10 | 56 | 87 |
| Elgato Stream Deck | 4 | 10 | 13 |
| TourBox Lite, Nano or Pro | 4 | 7 | 9 |
| DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard | 4 | 6 | 12 |
| TourBox Neo | 4 | 5 | 10 |
| Logitech MX Creative Console | 4 | 4 | 3 |
| Wacom or other pen tablet | 3 | 10 | 12 |
| Resolve Micro or Mini Panel | 3 | 7 | 6 |
| Loupedeck (CT, Live, +) | 3 | 5 | 6 |
| CommandPost | 3 | 4 | 4 |
"Comment score" adds up the votes on the comments that name a product. The threads are small, the biggest under 50 comments, so read this as a map of what gets compared, not a vote. Just below the cut-off, a multi-button gaming mouse appears in 2 threads, one of them as the top reply in r/editors.
Is TourBox worth it, according to Reddit?
For people who take the time to set it up and work in several apps, mostly yes. For keyboard-first editors, often no. The highest-scored comment in our sample (21 points) comes from an Elite owner of nearly a year who says it goes well beyond the Speed Editor: "You couldn't pay me to not use it." (r/davinciresolve, December 2024). That thread asked whether TourBox is just affiliate hype. Most owners who answered said it's worth having, but 14 of the 49 replies are from that one owner.
What owners praise
- One hand stays on the TourBox and one on the mouse, so you stop reaching for keyboard shortcuts. One editor liked it enough to buy a second one for home.
- It works in any app with shortcuts, the main reason Resolve users pick it over the Speed Editor: it isn't Resolve-only, and owners use it in Lightroom and CapCut and Photoshop.
- The wheels suit directional jobs: slipping clips, scrolling, zooming, shuttling and trimming. An Elite owner with repetitive strain sets the haptic strength for each command on each wheel.
- In Resolve's colour and Fusion pages it handles the fiddly adjustments, and one user who edits and grades pairs it with a Micro Panel to control curves through HoverAdjust.
What owners and ex-owners complain about
- The price, called ridiculous even by a buyer who likes it.
- Muscle memory. An editor with 25 years on keyboard and mouse returned it because it slowed them down, and another owner never uses theirs for the same reason.
- Uneven buttons: a daily user dislikes the long travel on the side button.
TourBox or Speed Editor: which does Reddit pick for DaVinci Resolve?
For cutting inside Resolve only, Reddit leans to the Speed Editor; for Resolve plus other apps, to the TourBox. Five of the 19 threads are titled as that exact comparison.
- The jog wheel. An owner of both says the Speed Editor's wheel is worth the price alone. In another thread an Elite owner was told the Speed Editor wins on every count, and then refunded the TourBox.
- Direct control. Blackmagic's panels move Resolve's playhead themselves, while a TourBox relies on keystrokes to do it. The commenter who told that Elite owner the Speed Editor wins also owns Blackmagic's Editor Keyboard, and says the Speed Editor's dial doesn't just emulate keystrokes, and it shows in the feel. Asked about Final Cut Pro, one reply says the opposite: the integration is native and the wheel can control the playhead. If jogging is why you're buying, check how it behaves in your editor first.
- Fixed keys. The Speed Editor's keys can't be remapped. That rules it out for some, and one owner says 80% of the buttons go unused unless you edit the way it was designed for.
- Price. In a June 2024 thread, owners said the Speed Editor bundle cost about $100 more than a Studio licence alone and was worth it. We haven't checked Blackmagic's current price.
- Other pages. The Speed Editor does little on the Color page. For grading, one reply says buy a Micro Panel.
Some use more than one device: one Resolve editor pairs a Speed Editor with a programmable gaming mouse, and the Editor Keyboard owner above keeps a Stream Deck+ beside it.
What do owners say about the TourBox Elite, Neo and Lite?
The Elite is the model Reddit talks about most: it's named in 13 of the 19 threads. On the maker's page it has 11 buttons and 3 knobs, haptic feedback, Bluetooth or USB-C and up to two months of battery, at USD$239 on promotion (list price USD$268) when we checked on 31 October 2026.
- Elite. Owners like haptic wheels that feel like a real mouse wheel, and the build: one calls theirs well built and tough after a year, before moving on to a Loupedeck CT. For one buyer, Bluetooth is what makes the Elite worth it over the Nano.
- Neo. A Resolve and Blender user says it works exactly like the Elite but is wired and cheaper.
- Lite. One owner loves it with Final Cut Pro and wants a Neo for more buttons. The maker lists the Lite at USD$94.99, with 8 buttons and up to 30 presets.
- Noise. Asked whether the buttons are loud, an owner said they click about as loudly as a mouse.
We found no maker price for the Neo or Elite Plus. A two-week owner adds that setup takes time but you only do it once.
What do Reddit users complain about?
The dial, first and most often.
- The dial is small and slow for scrubbing. A new Elite owner found it too small to scrub comfortably in Premiere Pro and thought about returning it. A long-time editor found it too slow even at the fastest setting, and a Resolve user asked how to scrub long timelines faster. Next to the Speed Editor, one commenter says the controls feel like "cheap mouse scroll wheels taped together" (r/editors, July 2026).
- Updates break the Resolve link. Threads report an Elite that stopped connecting with Resolve 19, a Neo that stopped following Resolve 21 and a user asking whether a beta Console build was safe to use.
- Shortcuts only. Blackmagic's own hardware reaches functions that have no shortcut, says an Editor Keyboard owner who makes the same point in three of these threads.
- It gathers dust. The commenter behind that scroll-wheel line says it never made anything quicker in a year, and another stopped using it after moving to After Effects.
- Influencer hype. The r/editors thread asks for views from working editors, not YouTube influencers.
Is TourBox any good for Premiere Pro and After Effects?
Reddit says little here: one r/premiere thread made our set, and the After Effects question in r/editors had its post removed.
- In r/premiere, an Elite owner of a year recommends it, though they later moved to a Loupedeck CT for colour dials. An Adobe staff member praised it too; we don't count that as a user view.
- A Premiere editor who found the dial too small asked about a Speed Editor with CommandPost; the reply warned of a lot of setup for a Resolve device.
- A long-time editor found the stock Premiere preset didn't suit them, while another owner in that thread finds it best for things you can put on a dial or a macro.
- For After Effects, the few replies suggest a Wacom pen for masks and say specialised hardware is rare now that budgets are tight.
TourBox's page lists default presets for Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Final Cut Pro, Capture One, DaVinci Resolve and others.
What do editors suggest instead of a TourBox?
The top-scored reply in r/editors' TourBox thread (11 points) says nothing beats a keyboard and mouse, with colour panels for Resolve and possibly a multi-button mouse on top. Other suggestions:
- A Stream Deck with ready-made Resolve profiles from SideshowFX, which one commenter calls a better purchase. Another uses Stream Decks with Keyboard Maestro to reach menu items that have no shortcut. See what Reddit says about the Stream Deck for editing.
- Cheap USB macro buttons at 10 to 15 euros, which a Resolve editor uses daily beside a Blackmagic keyboard, or the number pad with HID Macros one owner used before buying a TourBox.
- A Wacom tablet, which one commenter credits for keeping their wrist working, though it's a pointer, not a control panel.
- A Loupedeck CT, which the r/premiere Elite owner moved to for its colour-grading dials. Loupedeck stopped selling its consoles on 28 March 2025; see our Loupedeck alternatives.
- Blackmagic's Editor Keyboard, whose jog wheel one owner says is worth the price on its own.
If your real question is which mouse to put next to any of these, we read 57 threads for the best mouse for video editing on Reddit.
What does Reddit say to do before you buy a TourBox?
Get good at the keyboard first. One of the top replies in r/editors puts keyboard shortcuts above any device, and the hardware helps most once you know what you'd put on it.
- Decide by app. Cutting in Resolve and nothing else points to the Speed Editor. Resolve plus Photoshop, Lightroom or CapCut points to the TourBox.
- Put dials and macros on it, not basics. One owner finds it best for directional jobs and macros, not In and Out.
- Budget time for setup. Owners who kept theirs spent time customising it.
- Back up your layout. Presets export to files.
- Test it on a real edit inside the return window. TourBox's Elite page offers a 30-day refund, and two people in these threads sent theirs back.
Where mouzeclick fits (our view)
This section is ours, not Reddit's: none of the 19 threads mentions mouzeclick. It's software for the mouse you already own, not a second device: closer to the multi-button mouse in the top r/editors reply than to a jog wheel.
- Per-app buttons and gestures on any mouse your computer sees, with no driver: up to five standard buttons plus scroll and tilt, and eleven slots per button with chords and gestures. Mouse 4 can cut a clip in Premiere and paste everywhere else.
- Wheels instead of extra keys. The Tool wheel holds 112 Premiere Pro tools in 12 segments, or 114 After Effects tools in 13 groups, on F10 or a held right button. The Options wheel holds 48 favourites per app.
- Ready-made profiles for Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut and Photoshop, plus macros with a recorder for keys, clicks, waits and text.
What it doesn't do: there are no dials, no haptics and no jog wheel, and its panels and Tool wheel work in Premiere Pro and After Effects, not inside Resolve. If you scrub and grade with knobs, keep the TourBox or a Blackmagic panel beside it. Our TourBox alternative comparison goes control by control.
The limits: a TourBox is a one-time hardware buy; mouzeclick is one plan at $25 a month or $249 a year, or $499 once for one of the first 100 lifetime keys, which works for as long as mouzeclick runs. There's a 3-day trial with no card. The app, buttons, gestures and wheels run on Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 12 or newer; captions, cloud sync, in-app updates and the workspaces are Windows only, and the app needs an internet connection while it runs. More on Premiere Pro mouse shortcuts, the After Effects radial menu, the Mac app and pricing.
Try the mouse setup we make, free for 3 days. One plan with everything included, $25 a month, or $249 for a year.
Questions people ask
Do Reddit users think a TourBox is worth the money?
Owners who set it up for several apps mostly say yes; the top-scored comment in our sample is from an Elite owner of nearly a year who won't edit without it. Keyboard-first editors often disagree, and two in these threads returned theirs. The split is less about the device than about whether you'll spend the time setting it up.Is TourBox just affiliate marketing hype?
A December 2024 r/davinciresolve thread asked exactly that. Most owners who answered said it's worth having, though one enthusiastic owner wrote 14 of the 49 replies. A July 2026 r/editors thread asked working editors instead of influencers, and split between fans and people who see nothing beating a keyboard and mouse.Which is better for DaVinci Resolve, a TourBox or the Speed Editor?
For cutting in Resolve, Reddit picks the Speed Editor for its jog wheel and direct playhead control; an owner of both says no TourBox matches it there. For colour pages, Fusion or other apps, the TourBox, because its buttons can be remapped and it works anywhere with shortcuts. Several editors use both, or a Speed Editor plus a programmable mouse.Has Reddit found a way to make the TourBox dial scrub faster?
Not in the threads we read. Owners on the fastest setting still found it too slow for long timelines in Resolve and Premiere Pro, and one thought about returning their Elite over it. Several moved to, or added, a dedicated jog wheel such as the Speed Editor or a shuttle controller. What's the difference between the TourBox Elite, Neo and Lite?
The Elite adds Bluetooth and haptic wheels: 11 buttons and 3 knobs, up to two months of battery, USD$239 on promotion on TourBox's page in October 2026. A Neo owner on Reddit says it works exactly like the Elite but is wired, not Bluetooth, and cheaper. The Lite has 8 buttons and up to 30 presets for USD$94.99. Redditors also name a Nano and an Elite Plus. Why did my TourBox stop working with DaVinci Resolve 21?
A Neo owner reported this in August 2026: the TourBox didn't switch to its Resolve preset or follow Resolve's pages. TourBox's support account replied with steps: update TourBox Console, turn on Workspace › Show Page Navigation in Resolve, and on a Mac allow Screen Recording for TourBox Console. The maker's downloads page listed Console v5.12.1 on 23 October 2026.Can you back up your TourBox presets?
Yes. Asked this in r/davinciresolve, an owner said presets export as files, with no limit, and move easily to another device. Setting it up took one owner a few weeks, so keep a copy before you update: two threads report the Resolve link breaking after a Resolve update.Does Reddit recommend mouzeclick instead of a TourBox?
No. None of the 19 threads or 172 comments we read mentions it. We make mouzeclick, which is why it appears on this page at all, in a section labelled as our view. It puts buttons, gestures and wheels on the mouse you own rather than adding a device, and it has no dials. Its 3-day trial needs no card.Sources
