Motion Studio alternative: mouzeclick vs Mt. Mograph's Motion Studio, tool by tool

Updated 2026-10-31 · by the mouzeclick team · Also in Español, Português (Brasil), Bahasa Indonesia

Motion Studio, Mt. Mograph's successor to Motion 4, is the closest thing to mouzeclick: a toolkit panel, not an asset library. It costs less outside India ($13 a seat monthly, $132 a year), runs natively on Apple Silicon and reaches Illustrator and Resolve. mouzeclick is the Motion Studio alternative if you work on Windows across After Effects and Premiere Pro and want captions, silence removal and a mouse Tool wheel.

  • Disclosure: mouzeclick publishes this page and makes one of the two tools. No affiliate links.
  • Motion 4 is no longer sold: Motion 4 lifetime licences still work for that version, and Motion Studio is subscription-only
  • Mt. Mograph prices are as mtmograph.com showed them on 31 Oct 2026
  • Motion Studio works offline with an online check every 7 days; mouzeclick needs an internet connection while it runs

What is Motion Studio, and what happened to Motion 4?

Motion Studio is Mt. Mograph's motion design toolkit: an extension for After Effects plus a standalone desktop app, sold only as a subscription. It replaced Motion 4, which was an After Effects-only extension. Motion 4 isn't sold any more, but Mt. Mograph says existing Motion 2, 3 and 4 lifetime licences keep working for that version.

  • Size: the product page says "80+ tools" and "1000+ controls"; the pricing table says 110+ animation tools. The two pages disagree, so we quote the product page.
  • Apps: the full toolset in After Effects; select tools in Premiere Pro and Illustrator; Resolve Ease for DaVinci Resolve.
  • Systems: macOS on Apple Silicon and Intel, and Windows on x64 and arm64.
  • Named tools: one-click anchor point snapping, inline speed graph editing, fill and stroke colour controls, layer isolation with Focus groups, Re-Key, Emitter and Mini panels.
  • Install: its own installer, run with your Adobe apps closed; it finds your Adobe installs and adds the extensions.
  • Releases: monthly. Version 1.2.8 came out on 12 October 2026, and the company has been going since 2013.

Of the tools we compare mouzeclick with, this is the closest to its After Effects side.

Is mouzeclick a good Motion Studio alternative?

It is if you work on Windows and edit in Premiere Pro as well as After Effects; otherwise Motion Studio runs on more systems and, outside India, costs less. Both are toolkits, not asset libraries. As each maker's page showed it on 31 October 2026:

How do the two tool panels compare, tool by tool?

In After Effects they overlap on anchors, easing and colour, and split apart everywhere else. Here is each job with Motion Studio's named tool and mouzeclick's; where a maker's pages don't list a tool, the cell says so.

JobMotion Studiomouzeclick

The guides to the After Effects anchor point tool, easing presets and colour palettes show the mouzeclick side of each row in detail, and the workspace page shows the whole After Effects panel.

What does one animation job look like in After Effects alone, in Motion Studio and in mouzeclick?

Take a common job: a logo that pops in from its own centre with a soft overshoot. The steps show where each tool saves clicks.

After Effects alone

  1. Select the logo layer and choose Layer › Transform › Center Anchor Point in Layer Content.
  2. Press S, set a Scale key at 0%, another at 110% eight frames later, and 100% four frames after that.
  3. Select the keys and apply Animation › Keyframe Assistant › Easy Ease.
  4. Open the Graph Editor and pull the handles until the overshoot settles the way you want.

Motion Studio: anchor point snapping does step 1 in one click, and its inline speed graph editing is where you shape the ease.

mouzeclick on Windows: press the centre of the Toolbox anchor grid, set your Scale keys, then double-click a curve in Easing lab, one of the 21 Def or 23 Base curves, or one you saved. On a Mac, hold the right mouse button over the comp, flick to the Anchor grid on the After Effects Tool wheel, and use a mouzerun Ease button for the curve.

Neither tool sets your keyframes for you; both cut the trips through menus around them.

Which costs less: Motion Studio or mouzeclick?

Outside India, Motion Studio does, if After Effects is all you open: $132 a year against $249 for a year of mouzeclick, and $13 a month against $25. In India mouzeclick is billed in rupees, so compare the figures at today's exchange rate.

  • Motion Studio: $13 a seat a month billed monthly, or $11 a seat a month billed yearly ($132 a year). The Ultimate Bundle is $19 or $16 a seat a month.
  • mouzeclick monthly: $25, as a 30-day pass you pay once (no auto-debit) or as a subscription that renews by itself.
  • mouzeclick yearly: $249, paid once for 365 days.
  • mouzeclick lifetime: $499 once, first 100 keys only. It works for as long as mouzeclick runs, with at least 60 days' notice before the service is retired. Motion Studio has no lifetime option today.
  • Discounts: a creator or friend code takes 10% off a new customer's first 30-day or 1-year payment, and 6 or more monthly keys are 10% off each.

What mouzeclick's price buys on top is the Premiere Pro tools, the mouse app in every app, and captions and silence removal. If you never open Premiere and never want your mouse remapped, it buys you nothing, and Motion Studio is the better deal. Prices are in the pricing section.

Do Motion Studio and mouzeclick work offline?

Motion Studio does and mouzeclick doesn't. Mt. Mograph says its tools work offline after activation and need an internet connection every 7 days to verify the licence. mouzeclick needs an internet connection the whole time it runs.

  • If mouzeclick loses the connection, its shortcuts pause and your mouse behaves like a normal mouse until the connection comes back.
  • Some mouzeclick tools go online anyway: mouzelayer loads its map data, the workspace's Map rigs loads map imagery, Icons searches online icon sets, and speech models download the first time you use them.

On a plane or a shoot with no signal, Motion Studio keeps working until its next 7-day check and mouzeclick stops. If you edit on the road a lot, weigh that first.

Where is Motion Studio the better pick?

Motion Studio is the better pick for Mac animators, for anyone working in Illustrator or Resolve, and for anyone who needs to work offline.

  • Mac. The full After Effects toolset runs natively on Apple Silicon. mouzeclick's Mac app has no workspaces and isn't notarized by Apple yet.
  • Illustrator and DaVinci Resolve. Motion Studio reaches both. mouzeclick has no panel in either.
  • Windows on Arm. Motion Studio lists an arm64 build; mouzeclick lists Windows 10 and 11 without one.
  • Price outside India. $132 a year against $249 for mouzeclick.
  • Offline work. Up to 7 days between checks.
  • A longer trial. 7 days of full access against 3.
  • Track record. Monthly releases, and a company going since 2013.
  • You own Motion 4. Your lifetime licence still works for that version, so there's no rush to switch to anything.

When is mouzeclick the better Motion Studio alternative?

When you edit in Premiere Pro as much as you animate in After Effects, and you're on Windows.

  • Premiere Pro, in depth. mouzeclick Studio's five tabs (Silence, Captions, Retakes, Timeline, Guides), the Toolbar's 14 quick jobs, 8 Premiere extensions and a 112-tool wheel. The Premiere Pro tools page and the silence remover guide show them working.
  • Captions and silence inside After Effects (Windows), which Motion Studio's pages don't list.
  • Presets beside the tools: 159 text presets, 81 UI templates, 14 camera shakes and the Color desk, all in the same panel.
  • Tools on your mouse. The Tool wheel opens under the pointer on F10 or a held right button; the After Effects radial menu guide explains how. The mouse app also maps buttons and gestures per app, in every app you use.
  • Your own buttons. mouzerun makes one-click buttons for scripts, expressions, presets, menu commands and eases. If that's the part you care about, the KBar comparison goes into it.

Does mouzeclick run on Mac like Motion Studio?

Partly. mouzeclick runs on macOS 12 or newer, on Apple Silicon and Intel, but the Mac app doesn't include everything.

  • On Mac: the mouse app, wheels and gestures, both Tool wheels, Search effects, Studio's Silence, Timeline and Guides tabs, and all 22 extensions, including mouzekit, mouzerun and mousecut.
  • Windows only: both workspaces (Toolbox, Easing lab, Color desk, Caption studio and the rest), auto, styled and Hinglish captions, Retakes, cloud sync and in-app updates.
  • First launch: macOS asks you to allow the app once because Apple hasn't notarized it yet. The Mac install guide shows where.

If you animate on a Mac, we'd point you to Motion Studio today.

Run mouzeclick's trial in the same week as Motion Studio's, on real work. One plan with everything included, $25 a month, or $249 for a year.

Questions people ask

Is Motion 4 still available?

No. Mt. Mograph replaced Motion 4 with Motion Studio, which is subscription-only. If you bought a Motion 2, 3 or 4 lifetime licence, it still works for that version. Motion 4 was an After Effects-only extension; Motion Studio adds a desktop app and select tools for Premiere Pro, Illustrator and DaVinci Resolve.

Does Motion Studio work in Premiere Pro?

Partly. Mt. Mograph says the After Effects extension has the full toolset, while Premiere Pro and Illustrator get select tools. mouzeclick goes the other way in Premiere: mouzeclick Studio, the Toolbar, eight extensions and a 112-tool wheel, built around cutting, captioning and fixing the timeline rather than animation.

Does mouzeclick work in Illustrator or DaVinci Resolve?

Its panels don't; they run in After Effects and Premiere Pro only. The mouse app works in any app, with a ready-made profile and shortcut library for DaVinci Resolve, and a profile of its own for Illustrator and everything else, so your buttons and wheels change per app. Motion Studio's Resolve Ease and Illustrator tools have no mouzeclick equivalent.

How do I move a licence to a new computer?

In Motion Studio you log out on one machine to move a single seat there. In mouzeclick you release the old computer from your account page or inside the app, then activate on the new one. A mouzeclick key runs on one computer at a time, Windows or Mac.

Is there a free trial of each?

Yes. Motion Studio gives 7 days with full access and no credit card. mouzeclick gives 3 days with no card: the key arrives by email and the days start the first time you use it. It covers the Premiere Pro and After Effects tools on one computer.

Can I use Motion Studio and mouzeclick together?

Yes. They are separate panels, so you can keep Motion Studio for its anchor, easing and Focus tools and use mouzeclick for Premiere Pro, captions and the Tool wheel. Paying for both only makes sense if you live in both apps, so use the two trials in the same week and compare on real work.

Does mouzeclick run on Windows on Arm?

mouzeclick lists Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 12 or newer; it doesn't list a Windows on Arm build. Motion Studio lists Windows arm64 builds. If you're on an Arm laptop, try mouzeclick's 3-day trial before paying, and say so to support if anything doesn't work.

Is there a discount on either?

Motion Studio's annual billing works out at $11 a seat a month instead of $13. For mouzeclick, a creator or friend code takes 10% off a new customer's first 30-day or 1-year payment, and buying 6 or more monthly keys takes 10% off every key.
