FireCut alternative: mouzeclick and FireCut compared on silence, captions and price

Updated 2026-10-31 · by the mouzeclick team · Also in Español, Português (Brasil), Bahasa Indonesia

mouzeclick is a FireCut alternative for Premiere Pro editors on Windows who want captions made by a speech model on their own computer rather than an online service metered in hours, plus After Effects tools and a mouse wheel in the same plan. FireCut is the better pick in DaVinci Resolve, on Linux, on a Mac if you need captions, and for B-roll, voiceover and script-based edits.

  • FireCut for Premiere Pro showed Starter $10, Pro $18 and Max $31 a month billed monthly, under a “limited time discounted price for India” notice (31 Oct 2026)
  • FireCut Pro includes 25 hours of transcription a month and Max 100, counted in hours of source video
  • FireCut needs an internet connection for its AI, transcription, B-roll, music and voiceover features
  • mouzeclick's captions are written on your computer by Whisper, in 47 languages including Hinglish; Windows only
  • FireCut for DaVinci Resolve runs on Windows, macOS and Linux; mouzeclick has no Resolve panel and no Linux app

Is mouzeclick a good FireCut alternative?

Yes, for a Premiere Pro editor on Windows who cares where the audio goes, needs Hinglish captions, or does After Effects work too. No, if you edit in DaVinci Resolve, on Linux, or on a Mac and need captions, or if FireCut's AI features are the reason you're looking.

FireCut calls itself an AI video editing plugin for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Most of its features call online services and are metered in hours of footage a month. mouzeclick goes the other way: its silence remover reads audio levels on your computer and its captions come from a speech model that runs there too. The same plan covers 22 extensions for Premiere Pro and After Effects and a mouse app whose Tool wheel holds 112 Premiere Pro tools.

We make mouzeclick. Every FireCut fact here comes from FireCut's own home and pricing pages as they read on 31 Oct 2026, linked at the bottom.

What do FireCut's plans cost, and what is the India discount?

FireCut sells three Premiere Pro plans plus a team plan, and every card on the page we read said: “You are seeing a limited time discounted price for India!” We checked from India, so these are the India figures, shown in dollars. A visitor elsewhere may see different figures, and the notice gives no end date.

AI voiceover is also a Pro add-on at +$13 a month for 25,000 characters. Prices exclude sales tax or VAT. Lifetime access exists only on request, with no price shown; FireCut says it covers both plugins and all future updates.

mouzeclick is one plan: $25 a month, $249 a year, or $499 once for one of the first 100 lifetime keys, which works for as long as mouzeclick runs (retiring the service needs at least 60 days' notice). In India it's billed in rupees. No tier leaves out captions or After Effects. A creator or friend code takes 10% off a new customer's first 30-day or 1-year payment.

Compare like with like: for silence alone, FireCut Starter is the narrow, cheap option; for captions, put FireCut Pro against the whole mouzeclick plan.

How do FireCut's transcription hours work, and how does mouzeclick make captions?

FireCut counts hours of source video processed each month, shared across every feature with a limit: 25 hours on Pro, 100 on Max. Captions, filler and repetition removal, zooms, chapters, highlights, B-roll and music all draw on it; silence removal is listed as unlimited. FireCut says the plugin stays usable past the quota if you work from an existing subtitle track, and that its AI, transcription, B-roll, music, sound-effect and voiceover features need an internet connection.

Do the sum for your own week. Four 30-minute podcast episodes a week is roughly 8 to 9 hours of footage a month, before any shorts cut from them.

mouzeclick Studio's captions are written on your computer by Whisper, the open speech model. Download a model once, Fast (about 60 MB), Accurate (190 MB) or Best (574 MB), and your audio never leaves the machine. On Windows, the workspace's Caption studio adds eight on-device speech models and 40 language options. Captions are Windows only for now.

Languages are the other gap. FireCut lists 50+ caption languages, with English “fully supported” and the rest, Hindi among them, in experimental support; its filler-word removal is English only. mouzeclick Studio covers 47 languages, with Hinglish in Roman letters, one spelling per word, and Hindi in Devanagari as its own choice. You transcribe, read through, fix, then create. More in auto captions in Premiere Pro and Hinglish captions.

How does FireCut's silence cutting compare with mouzeclick's?

Closely. Both cut by sound, and both let you adjust the settings. FireCut's Starter plan has one-click and advanced silence cutting plus J-cuts; for its Resolve version, FireCut describes the advanced mode as having a waveform preview, threshold control and padding.

mouzeclick Studio's Silence remover marks pauses quieter than −40 dB and longer than 0.40 s, keeps 0.12 s around speech, and changes nothing until you press Remove, keeping a copy of the sequence. A music bed underneath is left alone. It runs in Premiere Pro on Windows and Mac. On Windows, the Cut desk adds Dialogue, Podcast and Aggressive presets (−48, −44 and −38 dB) and a Cuts only mode, and the workspace Toolbox has J-cut and L-cut buttons.

The free way is Premiere's Delete Pauses: transcribe in the Text panel (Window › Text), filter the transcript to Pauses and delete them with Extract. It works from recognised words, not loudness. Settings and fixes are in the Premiere Pro silence remover guide.

Does a FireCut alternative need to run in DaVinci Resolve or on Linux?

If you edit in Resolve, yes, and mouzeclick isn't one. Its editing tools run inside Premiere Pro and After Effects only, and the app runs on Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 12 or newer, not Linux. FireCut for DaVinci Resolve runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and has a free tier with unlimited use: silence removal (a one-slider mode or an advanced mode with waveform preview, threshold, padding and J-cuts), multichannel audio splitting and a markers tool. Its paid Resolve plans are priced separately.

What mouzeclick gives a Resolve editor on Windows or Mac is the mouse app: a ready-made Resolve profile and shortcut library, per-app buttons, gestures and the Options wheel. That's shortcuts, not editing tools.

On a Mac in Premiere it's mixed: the Silence remover, timeline tools and 22 extensions run, but captions, Retakes and the workspaces don't yet. See mouzeclick on Mac.

Which FireCut features does mouzeclick not have?

Most of the AI ones. If any of these is the reason you're shopping, stay with FireCut:

  • Magic cut assembles a first draft of a talking-head video, and script guidance edits to a script (Max).
  • AI voiceover using ElevenLabs models.
  • Stock B-roll, music and sound effects matched to the video, with Storyblocks included.
  • Highlights: short clips from long videos, reframed to vertical.
  • Chapters, titles and descriptions generated from speech.
  • Profanity muted or bleeped.
  • Workflows that chain features into one click (Max).

mouzeclick's nearest tools are manual by design: mouzemark turns markers you place into YouTube chapters, and mouzebeat cuts to the beat of your music and ducks it under dialogue. Neither writes anything for you.

What does mouzeclick do that FireCut doesn't list?

Mostly After Effects work, timeline fixes and Hinglish. None of these appear on FireCut's pages:

  • After Effects: 15 extensions, an After Effects Tool wheel with 114 tools, and on Windows a workspace with 159 text presets, 81 UI templates and its own caption studio.
  • Timeline fixes: Unnest for nests and multicam clips, Spread and Close synced around Premiere's own Clip › Synchronize, Fix pitch, Close all gaps.
  • Hinglish captions in Roman letters, written on your computer, in 289 looks across 27 families (Windows).
  • Safe-frame guides for 65 platform presets, including Moj, Josh and ShareChat.
  • A mouse that works in every app: per-app buttons, gestures, macros and three wheels.

When is FireCut the better pick?

Whenever Resolve, Linux, a Mac or AI drafting is in the picture:

  • You edit in DaVinci Resolve, especially on Linux, or want its free Resolve silence remover.
  • You edit on a Mac and need captions or filler removal in Premiere.
  • You want AI to do the first draft: Magic cut, script edits, highlights, B-roll, voiceover.
  • You want a longer trial: 7 days against 3.
  • You only need silence and J-cuts, and Starter's price suits you.

mouzeclick is the better pick if clients want transcription done on your own computer, if you caption Hinglish, or if After Effects is part of the job. Also compared: AutoCut alternative and Recut alternative.

How do I test mouzeclick against FireCut before paying?

Overlap the two trials and use one real project. mouzeclick's 3 days start the first time you use the trial key in the app, and the key must be used within 14 days of the email. FireCut's trial is 7 days.

  1. Pick a 10 to 20 minute talking-head clip, with mixed language if that's your work, and duplicate the sequence.
  2. Cut silence with FireCut on one copy and mouzeclick Studio's Silence tab on the other.
  3. Caption the same minute in both. Count the words you fix, and note which one needed the internet.
  4. Try the extras you'd really use: zoom cuts against AutoZoom, podcast switching against AutoCamera.

Common snags

  • mouzeclick Studio isn't under Window › Extensions: press Install Premiere bridge on the Tool wheel page of the mouzeclick app, restart Premiere, and keep the app running.
  • The first caption run is slow: the speech model is downloading, once.
  • Shortcuts pause: mouzeclick needs an internet connection while it runs, for your licence, even though the audio stays local.

Try mouzeclick free for 3 days, no card. One plan with everything included, $25 a month, or $249 for a year.

Questions people ask

Is FireCut cheaper than mouzeclick? It depends on the plan and the country. In the India view on 31 Oct 2026, FireCut Starter, for silence cutting only, showed $10 a month billed monthly, and Pro, the plan with captions, $18. mouzeclick is $25 a month for everything, billed in rupees in India. FireCut's page carried an India discount notice, so check its prices from where you are.
Does FireCut work offline?Partly. FireCut says an internet connection is required for features that call AI, transcription, B-roll, music, sound effects or voiceover. mouzeclick needs a connection while it runs too, for the licence, but its silence detection and captions are worked out on your computer and the audio isn't uploaded.
Can FireCut caption Hinglish?FireCut's pricing page lists Hindi under experimental language support and doesn't mention Hinglish. mouzeclick Studio writes Hinglish in Roman letters with one spelling per word, and Hindi in Devanagari as a separate choice; the speech model runs on your computer, so the audio isn't uploaded. Captions are Windows only for now.
What happens when FireCut's transcription hours run out?FireCut says the plugin stays usable after the included transcription is used: features that need its transcription draw on the monthly allowance, 25 hours on Pro and 100 on Max, and past the quota you can keep working from an existing subtitle track. Silence removal is listed as unlimited, so it doesn't use the allowance.
Does mouzeclick do J-cuts like FireCut?On Windows, yes: the Premiere Pro workspace Toolbox has J-cut and L-cut buttons. FireCut puts J-cuts in its Starter plan next to silence cutting. In plain Premiere, unlink the clips (Clip › Unlink) and drag the audio edit point earlier than the picture yourself, one cut at a time.
Can I run FireCut and mouzeclick on the same computer?Yes, you can install both; each is its own panel in Premiere Pro. A sensible split is FireCut for B-roll, music and highlights, and mouzeclick for captions made on your computer, timeline fixes and the mouse wheel. Cut the silences before you caption, so the captions match the final edit.
Is there a free FireCut alternative? In Premiere, the built-in tools: Delete Pauses for silence and Speech to Text for captions in 18 languages, both included with Premiere. In DaVinci Resolve, FireCut itself has a free tier for silence removal. mouzeclick isn't free, but its 3-day trial needs no card.
