UI animation templates for After Effects, edited before they reach your comp
UI animation templates for After Effects are ready-made app screens, widgets, chat bubbles and charts built from After Effects layers, for product promos and explainers. The mouzeclick workspace has 81 animated templates in nine categories, most in a dark and a light look. You change text, icon, colours and entrance in Template studio, then press Build template. The workspace runs on Windows.
- 81 animated templates (Templates 2.0) in nine categories: social, widgets, UI kit, chat, productivity, media, commerce, charts and 3D
- 80 of the 81 have a look selector, most with a dark and a light version; 63 also keep their original 1.x build, made instantly with Alt-click
- A live preview you can pause and scrub, with Content, Style and Motion tabs; theme colours become Color Controls
- SaaS interface effects in Motion lab, plus the mouzesaas and mouzeicons extensions, which also run on Mac
- Part of the mouzeclick workspace for After Effects (Windows only), included in the one plan
What are After Effects UI animation templates?
They're pre-built interface pieces, such as a notification, a pricing card, a chat thread or a chart, made from After Effects shape and text layers and already animated in. You drop one into a comp, change the words and colours, and it plays like something a designer keyed by hand.
Editors reach for them in SaaS launch videos, app-store previews, explainers, and the "notification pops up" moment in a talking-head video. A good template passes four checks.
- It's real layers, not a rendered clip, so it scales to 4K and takes your brand colours.
- Text is text you can retype, not a picture of text.
- Colours are exposed as controls, so a rebrand is a minute, not a rebuild.
- The entrance is short. Fifteen frames of easing reads as polish; forty reads as a slideshow.

How do you build a UI template in After Effects with Template studio?
Open it, edit it in the preview, then build it. Nothing reaches your comp until you press Build template.
- Open Window › Extensions › mouzeclick workspace and go to Shape studio › Templates.
- Search, or filter by category. The newest sit under New in 2.0.
- Open a template. The live preview plays, and you can pause and scrub it.
- Content tab: retype the text, and keep the template's icon, replace it, or use media you selected in the comp.
- Style tab: set the colours. Theme colours become Color Controls in After Effects, so you can still change them in Effect Controls after the build.
- Motion tab: pick one of eight entrance styles (fade, scale, slide up, slide left, pop and overshoot among them) and set the position.
- Press Build template.
In a hurry, build straight from the grid with the defaults and fix things in the comp. The 63 templates that keep a Classic 1.x build make it instantly with Alt-click.
My habit is to set Motion to None for the hero card and key it with a curve from the easing presets, so it moves like the rest of the edit. Keep the preset entrances for the supporting cards.
How do you animate a UI mock-up in After Effects without templates?
Build each card from shape and text layers, precompose it, then animate position, scale and opacity with eased keys.
- Draw the card with the Rectangle tool and raise Roundness for the corners. Add a drop shadow from the Effect menu.
- Add the text layers and an icon, and line them up with the Align panel.
- Select the pieces and use Layer › Pre-compose so the card moves as one.
- Key Position, Scale and Opacity on the precomp, ease the keys, and shape the speed in the Graph Editor.
- Offset each next card a few frames for a stagger.
- If you'll reuse it, open Window › Essential Graphics and expose the text and colours.
It's the right call for one hero card that has to match a designer's Figma frame exactly. It's slow for a launch video with twelve screens, where most cards only need to look right and arrive on time.
What else helps with SaaS and product promo videos in After Effects?
Motion lab's SaaS rigs, three more workspace tools and two extensions handle the motion around the cards. In the After Effects workspace, Motion lab has SaaS interface effects, among them UI stagger, Depth reveal (depth to photo and back), 3D cursor, Proximity hover, Halftone wave, a dot reveal, UI carousel, Glass panel, code glyphs and a gradient wipe. Select layers, pick a rig, press Create; several keep their settings live on a null or in Essential Graphics.
- Glass morph puts a frosted glass card behind selected layers, and you can remove it later.
- Layout builder arranges selected layers into one of 39 named grids by layer count, with an automatic grid from five layers up.
- Motion showcases turn 2 to 20 layers into a looping 3D card showcase (Orbit ring, Helix stream, Depth stack) at 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16, 5 to 30 seconds long, ready for the render queue.
Two extensions cover the rest, and both run on Windows and Mac. mouzesaas is a SaaS animation kit with app screens that float and tilt, browser, laptop and phone frames, a cursor that clicks with ripples, typing text, counters, bar, line and donut charts, notifications and scrolling pages, in five palettes or your own colours. mouzeicons has 90 original UI icons as shape layers that draw on, pop or fade up, in Outline, Filled or Duotone. Both are on the extensions page. Headlines over the UI come from the text animation presets, and a "customers in 40 countries" beat is a job for map animation.
Can you put your own app screens into a UI animation?
Yes, three ways, depending on what the designer sends you.
- An icon or image inside a template. In the Content tab, choose your selected media instead of the template icon.
- A full screenshot. mouzesaas floats app screens with rounded corners and soft shadows, inside a browser, laptop or phone frame.
- A layered file. Ss to ae (beta), in Motion lab, takes a UI screenshot or a layered Photoshop or Illustrator file and rebuilds it as After Effects layers that animate in: slide, from centre, pop and overshoot, scale and rotate, Z-depth fade, corner or fade only, in layer order, top to bottom, left to right, centre out or random.
Ask for the layered PSD or Illustrator file as well as the flat PNG, so you have the designer's own layers to fall back on if the rebuild needs a fix. Ss to ae is marked beta, so check every rebuilt layer before you animate on top of it.
Should you use these templates or buy a UI pack?
Use the templates when you want editable pieces fast inside a plan you already pay for; buy a pack when you need one visual style across dozens of screens. If sheer asset volume is the goal, read how mouzeclick compares as an AEJuice alternative. The workspace gives you 81 templates, most in dark and light looks, that you edit in a panel next to the text, colour and easing tools.
For a brand you work with every month, build its cards once, save the comp in the Library's Comp Saver (by category, with an animated GIF preview) and import it into the next project. Next month's video then starts from cards that are already on brand.
The templates come with the rest of the all-in-one After Effects workspace at $25 a month, $249 a year or $499 lifetime, with a 3-day trial and no card. See pricing.
Do the UI templates work on Mac?
No. Templates, SaaS interface effects, Layout builder and Motion showcases are in the mouzeclick workspace, which is part of mouzeclick on Windows; the Mac app does not include it. mouzesaas and mouzeicons are extensions, so they run on Windows and Mac. The Mac page lists what the Mac app has.
Build your next product promo from the UI templates. One plan with everything included, $25 a month, or $249 for a year.
Questions people ask
How do I animate a phone screen mock-up in After Effects?
Put the screen recording or screenshot inside a phone frame and move the frame, not the screen. mouzesaas has phone, laptop and browser frames that float and tilt with rounded corners and soft shadows, and the templates include a dynamic island, a call screen and 3D phone notifications. By hand, precompose the screen, mask it to the frame's corner radius and parent it to the frame.
Can I change a template's colours after I build it?
Yes. Theme colours become Color Controls in After Effects, so open Effect Controls on the built template and change them there. For a whole brand palette, pick the colours from Color desk first, then build, so every card starts on brand.
What is the difference between Templates 2.0 and Classic 1.x?
Templates 2.0 opens an editor with a live preview and Content, Style and Motion tabs, and builds only when you press Build template. Classic 1.x is the original build of 63 of the templates, with editable text; Alt-click on one of those makes it instantly with its defaults.
Can I make vertical versions of a UI animation?
Yes. The mouzeresize extension makes copies of a comp in 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 4:3, 16:9, 21:9 or your own size, and Comp resizer in Motion lab resizes several comps at once with the content kept in place. Motion showcases also build straight to 9:16 or 4:5.
Can I use my own easing on a template?
Yes. Set the entrance to None in the Motion tab, build, then key the precomp yourself with a curve from Easing lab. That keeps the card's motion in step with the rest of your edit instead of a stock pop.
Which After Effects versions do the templates support?
The workspace's panel files support After Effects CC 2018 or later. Even so, install the 3-day trial, which needs no card, and build a few templates in the exact After Effects version you deliver from before you promise a client job on them.
Do the templates need an internet connection?
The templates build inside After Effects. mouzeclick itself needs an internet connection while it runs, so keep the app online. If you also use Icons in Editors, that searches online icon sets; the 90 mouzeicons icons ship with the extension.
